The Chorale celebrates its 39th season!
The Davis Chorale announces the 2016/17 season, which as in the past, offers traditional and contemporary masterpieces of classical choral music. There will be a couple of shorter concerts designed to be family-friendly. For instance, the December 3 holiday concert at Brunelle Hall, featuring festive, seasonal music, accompanied by organ, brass and percussion, will be presented in a short family-oriented version at 3 pm and as a full-length program at 7 pm. As an additional seasonal offering, the Chorale will host a Messiah Sing-Along at Davis Community Church on December 18 at 4pm.
Theme concerts, which can generate a plethora of poetry and musical genres, have also become typical for the Chorale’s programming. The theme of the spring concert on May 13, 2017 – appropriately for “Earth Month” will be: “Songs of the Earth.” Oboe , percussion and piano will provide accompaniment.
For the third year in a row, the Chorale is joining UC Davis choirs and orchestra for the Alumni Concert, this year presenting Brahms’ Requiem on March 12, 2017, 7 pm at the Mondavi Center.
Auditions for singers, interested in joining the Chorale, are ongoing throughout the summer. Appointments can be made by contacting Artistic Director Alison Skinner at 530-574-8419 or alison@davischorale.org.
